Add the one-click button to your browser

Set this up once. Then, on any article, one click checks the source and reads the story — no copying, no pasting.

↑ Drag this button up to your bookmarks bar

  1. Make sure your bookmarks bar is showing. (In most browsers: View menu → Show Bookmarks Bar, or press Cmd‑Shift‑B.)
  2. Drag the dark “NewsTrace” button above up onto that bar. It becomes a bookmark you keep.
  3. Go to any news article. Click NewsTrace in your bookmarks bar.
  4. NewsTrace opens in a new tab with that article already checked — source, background, and a read of the story itself.
Why a button instead of a copy-paste? The button runs on the page you’re reading, so it grabs the link and the article text together in one click. That means it can read the whole story — even on sites you subscribe to — because the text comes from the page you already opened, not from anyone re-fetching it.

On a phone?

Dragging bookmarks is awkward on phones. For now, the simplest way on mobile is to open newstrace.app and paste a link or the article text. A one-tap phone version is coming.
